Today's films are only rich because of the capital economy: Javed Akhtar

"Schools and universities were opened. Now independent films are made for the wealthy. At one time, the author was considered a small-town hero. Currently, the film is being produced only for multiplexes. Wealth is now concentrated in urban areas. If there's corn, there's corn. "This principle seems to apply to today's films as well," Javed Akhtar said. He was interviewed by director Jayaprada Desai at the Ajanta International Film Festival.

Commenting on the chaotic situation in society and cinema, director Javed Akhtar said: There's nothing to see next. ” A place where there is no good or evil. That word comes to mind now as marketization and liberalization progress. Because markets work. We don't know what we're doing for ourselves and what we're doing for society. Capital markets work. But at the same time, people are thinking about it. But in this case there is no need to be sad. Aurangzeb ruled this country for 51 years. But this is India. Because you can see the surface water of the Ganges-Jamuna river. But the invisible stream of Saraswati flows from within. With 6,000 years of history, this country's cultural heritage isn't going to change anytime soon. There is no big difference between 3 meetings and 4 people's actions. ]

History is the soul of our country and our culture. As a result, the story progresses in a state of confusion, with neither heroes nor villains found in the film. There are no heroes or villains. The IQ of filmmakers in this country is sometimes in his single digits. But the heroes of the 1960s were workers, professors, and doctors working elsewhere. Today's heroes have their own privileges. It has nothing to do with social issues. He lives in Switzerland. He grew up in the city so he has no problems. So he doesn't do anything. He is not referring to us. It's just like there are hotels and hospitals for the wealthy. The same is true for today's movies. In fact, commercial cinema is a synthesis of society. That's why movies are big business.
Therefore, social unrest is no longer visible in the film. The Zamindar Thakur of the 1940s and 1950s is no longer seen in films. In this later period, slum dada emerged in cinema from urbanization. He later became a hero. He fought against corruption and injustice. In later eras, corruption and fraud became the culprits. For a few days, Pakistan was also seen as a villain in movies. That's no longer an option.

Therefore, there is no villain in this movie. In other words, there are no heroes or villains in today's movies. The result is a film that has no dance song content whatsoever. Poetry doesn't need money. Movies need that. Where there is a demand for capital, there is a demand for capital, and there is also a demand for capital economics. Therefore, songs written in movies belong to these characters or to these movie groups. Javed Akhtar said that writing poetry and being a poet are two different things, and just like a heroine in a film, a lyricist also plays a role.
